In Times of Abundance, Remember G-d
Moshe warns the Israelites that there will come a time when they will have an abundance of wealth (he specifies food, home, animals and money (gold and silver)) resulting in them feeling arrogant and forgetful regarding G-d who rescued them from Egypt and led them through a dangerous desert replete with snakes, vipers and scorpions, who gave them water from a rock when there was a drought as well as manna to test and ultimately benefit them.
In such a time of abundance, Moshe warns, they will mistakenly think that their wealth was accumulated of their own accord.
They must remember, Moshe says, that it is G-d who makes them strong so that they can acquire wealth, ultimately so they can keep their covenant with Him.
He forewarns them that if they neglect this and worship idols, they will perish.
They are about to cross the Jordan, Moshe says, to conquer nations which are stronger than them, people who are great and tall like giants (Anakim) yet G-d will subjugate these nations to the Israelites and destroy them.
